The nyatiti, the eight stringed lyre of the Luo people in Western Kenya, moved to Nairobi and experienced a popular resurgence in the 1970s. Its infectious and driving sounds propelled people onto city dance floors and became the best known of so-called ethnic musics in Kenya. This is a curated compilation of some of the most famous singles that came out during Kenya's vinyl boom in the 70s and 80s. All tracks restored and remastered at Third Man Mastering in Detroit, MI.
