Panic Bomber Is Getting On Your Mind

Prepare thyselves!  Panic Bomber‘s new album is coming out and there’s going to be an insane show this Saturday night to celebrate the release. He’s performing live with all the bells and whistles at the White Room – horn section, special effects, perhaps a few new covers planned… – along with DJ sets by Damaged Goods, Troy Kurtz and Juan Basshead.  All denizens of the dancefloor will be thoroughly satisfied.

Panic Bomber’s new full-length “Getting On My Mind” drops next Tuesday but Sweat’s got the CD available right here right now for you to obtain!  It’s $7, less than the cost of a drink at most clubs, but you’ll get 12 tracks (eight originals and four different remixes) that you can listen to on repeat to your heart’s content.  In other words, it’s a great deal for a really damn good CD.

Sweat, Black Friday + The 3/50 Project

Black Friday is upon us, the busiest shopping day of the year when people wake up before dawn, and literally risk their lives in the name of a discount on…stuff.

At Sweat, we offer you an alternative.  We open at noon, offer you a wide variety of already reasonably priced unique gifts and music, and promise that absolutely no one will be trampled to death.  We do know the lure of a good sale though so EVERYTHING will be 10% off.  No ifs, ands or buts, just an across-the-board discount on all of our awesome LPs, CDs, books, movies, toys and treats.

In this same spirit, we’d like to introduce you to a concept we think is pretty neat – THE 3/50 PROJECT:

Sweat Review – Sad Man Happy Man

sad_man_happy_man_cover_sidebar[Hello and welcome to a new series of music reviews from sweatrecordsmiami.com!  Read, enjoy and shop at Sweat! -Lolo]

Following the breakup of Soul Coughing, front man Mike Doughty faced a dilemma: fade into an obscure silence, occasionally pocked with greatest hits anthologies and random pings on “Where are they now?” radars; or take on a personal voyage of investigation across the United States with little more than a guitar, home recorded CDs and an insatiable desire to play some songs. Doughty commits himself to the latter.

I’ll preface now by saying that this story is retold in nearly every account of Doughty’s lead up to a viable solo career. Pardon the repetition, but there is something clearly seductive about, after an unclean band breakup, saying fuck all to the detractors, jumping into a rental car and stitching together venues in a long tapestry of miles traveled and audiences entertained.
