This beloved record of the 2010s soul revival era is back in stock and on color vinyl—for the very first time!—in All The Hits All The Time Gold. Kings Go Forth was an unlikely and kismet collaboration between producer Andy Noble—owner of Lotus Land Records and general man about town in Milwaukee, Wisconsin—and the singer Black Wolf, whose bona fides date back to the regional soul act the Essentials (they were on Curtis Mayfield’s label Curtom Records in the ’70s). Together with their 10-member, intergenerational soul band, they perfected complex grooves that elegantly highlighted Black Wolf’s high-flying vocals—attracting notable fans like DJ Shadow and Tom Moulton, the man who invented the 12-inch disco track (and also remixed Kings Go Forth's single "Don't Take My Shadow"). With album art by the D.C. folk artist Mingering Mike (famous for painting covers for imaginary albums—this was his first real cover), the Kings Go Forth’s first and only full-length record, The Outsiders Are Back, borrowed from the past to make the soul music of the future.
