Last Friday we had a packed house for excellent performances by My Deer, Hunters of the Alps and Dude Skywalker! Make sure you see those artists around town next chance you get.
This week’s in-stores kick off with the Emerge Miami meeting at 7pm. Friday night we welcome live performances by ambient/noise duo Meadows Over Mori’s Valley and experimental/noise artist Sharlyn Evertsz! 7-9pm, no cover, all ages welcome.
Saturday night the Robby Hunter Band bring their indie funk vibes to the Sweat stage! This free, all-ages show starts at 7pm.
Sunday afternoon from 12 til 2 we welcome the Filmgate Interactive Media Conference to Sweat for an Interactive Music Semina with composer/ media artist Dr. Joey Bargsten. You won’t want to miss this presentation, read more about it below. We look forward to seeing you in the shop this week!
“Since its launch in 2010, Microsoft’s Kinect, a motion and sound sensor for Xbox 360, has created new ways for visual artists and composers to imagine the body as a controller for live digital media. This workshop will examine how Kinect can be used to develop interactive performances using open source sound software PureData and the MacOS visual interactivity program Quartz Composer. After the presentation, those with laptops are invited to participate in an introduction to PureData and learn how to create a software theremin!”
