As guitarist for the mighty Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, Marcos Garcia burns up stages all over the globe. When he transforms into CHICO MANN, the time-traveling multi-instrumentalist-producer becomes a man on a whole new mission. That mission is to single handedly filled the 30+ year gap between afrobeat, afrocuban, freestyle and electronic music. Quite a feat, but after listening to his music, I’m sure you’ll agree that he’s more than able.
He’s taking that mission around the country as we speak, touring in support of his new album “Analog Drift,” released on Wax Poetics tomorrow. Pick up that album, and see him live at The Vagabond this Thursday. Be sure RSVP to email@example.com for awesome deals at the door. Do your job. (((SHAKE)))
“…This is the future of music, in case you didn’t know. [Chico Mann] has come from the future to show you how the past should have sounded. This time-traveling mastermind is basically the Jersey City Cuban James Brown of the Casio. You heard it here first…Welcome to the future past. Recommended.” -Turntable Lab
