Tomorrow evening scoot your pretty selves over to the Beach for the opening night of Miami artist/curator extraordinaire Francesco LoCastro‘s new art show 305//NEON LIFE! “Discover, through this riveting collection of work, what lies beneath the sunny veneer of a city still haunted by its checkered past…” The opening is from 6-8 at the Kid Robot store on South Beach and there will be 305-centric music and a special appearance by Krelwear‘s DiscGlo girls! If you can’t make the show don’t worry, it’s up through December 9th.
At the show we’ll be giving out wristbands so you can hop back across the bridge and get in free for the official after-party at (((SHAKE)))! This Thursday the Que Pasa M.I.A. fam welcome Tel Aviv’s sick hip hop crew SOULICO as part of their Exotic on the Speaker Tour!
Their new album features guest appearances by Ghostface, Rye Rye, Del the Funkee Homosapien and more and has been getting great reviews all over. From Pop Matters:
“What happens when you put four Israelis into a room with keyboards, computers, turntables, and a few dozen crates of rare vinyl? The question sounds like the precursor to a bizarrely tasteless joke, but the answer is far less cringe-inducing. You get Exotic On the Speaker, a DJs compositional buffet that ranges across the appetizing soundscapes of club bangers, dancehall vibes, and soulful hip hop. Add the tahini of a vast range of emcees from the United States and Middle East alike and you can turn that instrumental falafel into something much more packed with vibrant flavor.”
Listen up here and see you Thursday!
