There will be no (((SHAKE))) this Thursday, but Sweat will definitely be in the house for Fridays @ The Vagabond January 1st! We get the new year started right with a live performance by one of South Florida’s best bands – LIFE OF SEALS! Their spacey-yet-poppy tunes will resonate with any fan of M83, My Bloody Valentine, Depeche Mode or Postal Service. We’ll have all 3 rooms of music going, and the party don’t stop til 5am. Get there before 11 for NO COVER, and $2 PBR or Rolling Rock drafts until Midnight!
This Saturday night we don’t really need to elaborate much, we just need to tell you to get your behinds down to The Vagabond because two of Miami’s best acts are playing live – RACHEL GOODRICH + AWESOME NEW REPUBLIC! Both of them have toured extensively this year so come out for a sure-to-be-all-out-amazing local holiday show.
Not only that but guest DJ Lauren Flax from NYC will be guest-starring on the decks after the bands. In addition to producing her own tunes, she’s remixed Men, Telepathe, and more and has been Fischerspooner’s touring DJ!
By now you’ve all heard about the fact that we’ve got West Palm Beach’s SURFER BLOOD at Fridays at The Vagabond tomorrow, that they’ve been featured in the New York Times, by Rolling Stone, a recent lead story for the Broward New Times, and that scrooge-y old Pitchfork made their single “Swim” number 37 on their list of the top tracks of the year.
What you haven’t heard, is that Sweat and The Vagabond have teamed up with IronForge Press to make a sick silk-screened limited edition poster for the show!
Come say goodbye to us this Thursday, since we won’t (((SHAKE))) again til 2010! We’re taking a break for the holidays, but we plan to go out with a boom to make you Get Low! Party bass soundtrack by ULTRABLACK (Phoenix, AZ), JUAN BASSHEAD, OTTO VON SCHIRACH, ASHWORTH, MR. ALVAREZ + MCs JUMANJI + THE NOME. Plus we’re hosting the Release Party for the much anticipated Wu-Tang Meets The Indie Culture Vol.2: Enter the Dubstep courtesy of Frank 151.
A-TRAIN, DS, and Champion Sound‘s SIRE ESQ. keep it jumpin’ in the front Bar with a mix of hip hop, reggae, funk + soul, while ALEX CASO + MGA hold it down on the Patio. RSVP to Shake305@gmail.com and get in FREE before 11 and reduced admission after. Get loose with $1 Colt 45 Tallboys til 11, and $5 Cuba Libres all night. We’re doing it big this Thursday for the last (((SHAKE))) of the year, so come out and do your job.
This week, Fridays at The Vagabond are proud to present a special live set by LA producers/remixers extraordinaire CLASSIXX!
Mike Deuce has been dropping their track “I’ll Get You (feat. Jeppe)” on dancefloor and now you get to hear these heavy hitters for yourself on The Vagabond’s ridiculous Funktion One sound system.
Download their remix of Mayer Hawthorne’s “Green Eyed Love” for free here, their remix of Holy Ghost’s timeless dance track “I Will Come Back” here, and check out this cute fan video of their remix of Phoenix’s “Lisztomania”:
Superthug started back in ’98 with the sound of helicopters, a cell phone ringing, talk of Noreaga in the Philippines… next thing you knew the whole club was jumping off to their first taste of a Neptunes beat and the repeated chant of “what.” N.O.R.E hasn’t stopped running since then and he makes his way to the (((SHAKE))) stage this Thursday, December 10th!
N.O.R.E. comes to The Vagabond live-and-direct to celebrate the launch of Militainment Crazy Hood Radio. He’s joined by a stellar local line-up of MAYDAY, GARCIA, HECKLER, and BLACK BOBBY who we told you about right here. Additional sounds by DJ EFN, SHARPSOUND, DEE JAY K-N-S, D-UP, DOORMOUSE, A-TRAIN + ALEX CASO on the wheels of steel. This is sure to be another epic (((SHAKE)))
You ask, you receive! Here’s the run-down of everything we’re presenting or a part of during this year’s Art Basel week festivities:

Then later at Fridays at The Vagabond, we’re extremely excited to present a live performance by NYC electro duo TELEPATHE!!!! The world’s second largest art fair is back in town. Naturally (((SHAKE))) won’t let it go without adding our spin (remember Paint Ballsel?) so this year we’re celebrating ART BASS-EL! We’re bringing big bass sounds of New Orleans Bounce music to Miami for the first time ever. Here’s what happened when it came to Brooklyn…
That was BIG FREEDIA, who you can catch performing live this Thursday at The Vagabond with her DJ RUSTY LAZER. We’ve also brought back the Brooklyn bass banger DIRTY FINGER to celebrate his Birthday with us and get your asses moving once more! Residents DOORMOUSE, A-TRAIN, DS + ALEX CASO supply the rest of the (((SHAKE))) soundsystem for the night.
Adding to the excitement is the world’s biggest dreidel tournament going down right in our back yard! Sign up here for MAJOR LEAGUE DREIDEL and spin your way to the championship!
We’re also hosting the official release of the MIAMI’S FINEST 2010 CALENDAR, so come out and be the first to pick yours up! Do your job.
