    Get Low For Jumanji’s Birthday!

    posted by Jsin

It’s only been two weeks since the last time (((SHAKE))) got low (“My Invented Country” photos here), but Miami just can’t get enough bass! By popular demand we’re bringing GET LOW back this Thursday with DJs JUAN BASSHEAD, SOMEJERK  back to back with METHODUS, WRECK, ASHWORTH, GOODDROID dropping the best dubstep and party bass around.  THE NOME will be holding down the MC duties, as JUMANJI parties up for his Birthday! Come celebrate with us. Come Get Low.

Go See Animal Tropical Friday Night.

    posted by Lolo

If you haven’t seen ANIMAL TROPICAL live yet, then rejoice and come out because they will be taking the stage this Friday at The Vagabond!

We unabashedly love this South Florida foursome who, while hard to describe, are making some of the best and most unique music in the current creative atmosphere.  They also dress sharp, make cool videos and put on a great show (which you can see  for yourself this week).  You can read more about them from some press quotes we posted after the jump.

We’ve posted this before but their awesome EP “Doom Years” is still available for free from the link below.  Get it and see you Friday!

    MGA + Future Fridays

    posted by Lolo

We’ve got lots of great stuff coming up for Fridays at The Vagabond…We already enjoyed really (really!) great sets from Life Of Seals and Sweet Bronco, this week we’ve got guest DJ MGA back in the house to rock the decks in the main room!

Coming up…next week is tuneful Miami trio Ex-Norwegian, followed by Astari Nite celebrating the release of their new EP (and their song’s inclusion in RockBand 2), and then dreamy “chillwave” act Million Young on Friday, February 5th.

All that and three areas of great music, our guy Mo serving up impressive edibles in the Garden, and in case you hadn’t heard our current Fridays drink specials are $2 PBRs or $5 Russian Standard vodka cocktails from 10pm to midnight!  That also happens to be the Sweat set time (with either myself or Just Dandy) so arrive early to beat the line, hear some fresh new music and imbibe on the cheap.

Remember: Fridays loves you. No dress code, no bs, just come as you are.

    The Vagabond’s Sweet Bronco

    posted by Jsin

Join us at The Vagabond Friday night for a live performance by Ft. Lauderdale band SWEET BRONCO. You’ll love their electro-organic soul-pop rock syle reminiscent of Band of Horses and Wilco. DJs Mike Deuce, Ray Milian, Lolo, Danny Ashe, UVS + Alex Caso give you 3 rooms of sound to keep the part rockin til 5 in the morning.

On a sadder note, we’re losing a good friend this night. Danny Ashe has been a staple in the South Florida scene; repping good music with Lunabelle, Marqui Adora, Off the Radar, The Vagabond, etc. etc. Every Friday at The Vagabond in the bar room from 12 to 3, you’ve danced to his tunes, or turned to your friend with an, “I love this song!” This is his last night with us, as he travels to Spain to pursue his culinary dreams. We’re all going to miss the guy, so come out and have a goodbye shot with him this Friday!

Arrive before 11 for free entry and $2 PBR or $5 Russian Standard Vodka drinks until Midnight! Come as you are.

(((SHAKE))) Celebrates 40 Years of Laroc!

    posted by Jsin

After a two week vacation, (((SHAKE))) is back this Thursday! It’s also the 40th Birthday of Miami legend Tom Laroc and we’re honored he’ll be celebrating with us! Expect crazy surprise guests and Tom showing off his amazing Video DJ talents on the big screen. His set was the highlight of Future Classic Festival for me, and he never disappoints when he joins us at The Vagabond. Don’t miss it.

First Fridays of 2010 with Life of Seals

    posted by Jsin

There will be no (((SHAKE))) this Thursday, but Sweat will definitely be in the house for Fridays @ The Vagabond January 1st! We get the new year started right with a live performance by one of South Florida’s best bands – LIFE OF SEALS! Their spacey-yet-poppy tunes will resonate with any fan of M83, My Bloody Valentine, Depeche Mode or Postal Service. We’ll have all 3 rooms of music going, and the party don’t stop til 5am. Get there before 11 for NO COVER, and $2 PBR or Rolling Rock drafts until Midnight!

BOTH Rachel Goodrich + ANR Live at The Vagabond Saturday!

    posted by Lolo

This Saturday night we don’t really need to elaborate much, we just need to tell you to get your behinds down to The Vagabond because two of Miami’s best acts are playing live – RACHEL GOODRICH + AWESOME NEW REPUBLIC! Both of them have toured extensively this year so come out for a sure-to-be-all-out-amazing local holiday show.

Not only that but guest DJ Lauren Flax from NYC will be guest-starring on the decks after the bands.  In addition to producing her own tunes, she’s remixed Men, Telepathe, and more and has been Fischerspooner’s touring DJ!

    IronForge x Surfer Blood POSTER

    posted by Lolo

By now you’ve all heard about the fact that we’ve got West Palm Beach’s SURFER BLOOD at Fridays at The Vagabond tomorrow, that they’ve been featured in the New York Times, by Rolling Stone, a recent lead story for the Broward New Times, and that scrooge-y old Pitchfork made their single “Swim” number 37 on their list of the top tracks of the year.

What you haven’t heard, is that Sweat and The Vagabond have teamed up with IronForge Press to make a sick silk-screened limited edition poster for the show!
