More non-WMC goodness… Here is a great set pictures from the last Pure Imagination Live event! Big thanks to wiissaa for the images. Also, here’s a nice article about PI Live from OutLoud Magazine.
The next Pure Imagination live is Saturday, April 3rd at Sweat!
This Saturday evening we are extremely excited to welcome you to the 10th installment of Pure Imagination Live at Sweat Records!
Writer and storyteller extraordinaire Matt Gajewski returns to bring you amusing, gently twisted, thought-provoking tales with live soundtracking by his merry band of misfit music-makers, aka the Mountain Dew Code Red Terror Alert.
No cover as always, starts at 9pm. Enjoy hot chocolate and quality entertainment before your Saturday night festivities commence!
Click the flier above to visit the Pure Imagination website where you can listen to or download all the previous episodes (including stories you’ll recognize from previous PI Live’s), or enjoy them as free podcasts via iTunes.
Next Saturday evening come to Sweat for what is one of our most popular series of in-store events – PURE IMAGINATION LIVE!
It’s been a minute so let us refresh your memories… Pure Imagination started as a WVUM radio show written and performed by Matt Gajewski and scored with original music by local musicians. The stories are funny, dark, touching, sometimes surreal and have been compared to everything from David Sedaris to This American Life.
You can listen to every episode for free online by going to the Pure Imagination website or by searching for “Pure Imagination” in the iTunes store and then clicking “Podcasts”.
We started the live series last year and it’s become a huge hit. We took a hiatus for the summer heat but now that we’re air-conditioned again, Pure Imagination returns! Come out Saturday, October 10th for the 9th installment of the series. It’s almost always standing room only so arrive early to get a good seat!
Next Tuesday, AE District invites you to the inaugural meeting of the Black Umbrella Book Club, a new literary group meeting around the great big table at their space in the Design District.
Hosted by Matt Gajewski (of our beloved Pure Imagination), Vanessa Garcia (The Krane) and yours truly, we hope to sort of pick up where the Sweat Books Book Club left off…
No previous reading required for this first meeting, but copies of the first selection – “How To Leave Hialeah” by Jennine Capó Crucet – will be available. The meeting is from 7-9pm with yummy healthy food provided by Pasha’s and caffeinated drinks by Bustelo. It’s free of course so come get bookish with us Tuesday night!
Tonight is the 8th installment of Pure Imagination Live at Sweat Records, AND the release party for the brand new Pure Imagination BOOK!
Matt Gajewski will be reading a new story over live soundtrack accompaniment from some of Miami’s finest musicians. All the previous episodes of Pure Imagination are on the website and you can watch the piece that WLRN’s ArtStreet did on the show from a previous blog post here.
See you tonight. If you want a seat don’t be late!
UPDATE: You can get your book signed tonight by the author and illustrator if you buy a copy. Support!
Check out this cool video piece about local radio show/live sensation PURE IMAGINATION that just aired on WLRN’s ArtStreet! I got to add my 2 cents in about PI’s goodness as well, check it out:
FYI the next PURE IMAGINATION LIVE is Saturday, May 16th at Sweat Records and gosh darn it we WILL have air conditioning by then!
Always one of our most popular in-stores, the seventh installment of Pure Imagination LIVE is Saturday night at Sweat Records! Matt Gajewski will read his latest opus with background accompaniment by the Mountain Dew Code Red Terror Alert. If you STILL haven’t heard the show, you can download every single episode via iTunes or at vangloria.net/pureimagination
And oh yeah, wear a tank-top, because it’s f*#king hot in the store right now. Details on our “COLD SWEAT” A/C fundraiser coming very, very soon.
