If you haven’t seen ANIMAL TROPICAL live yet, then rejoice and come out because they will be taking the stage this Friday at The Vagabond!
We unabashedlylove this South Florida foursome who, while hard to describe, are making some of the best and most unique music in the current creative atmosphere. They also dress sharp, make cool videos and put on a great show (which you can see for yourself this week). You can read more about them from some press quotes we posted after the jump.
We’ve posted this before but their awesome EP “Doom Years” is still available for free from the link below. Get it and see you Friday!
This weekend two celestial groups will cross our paths… Tonight at The Vagabond, Miami’s ASTARI NITE will take the stage in the Main Room. They’re celebrating the release of their new EP “True Romance” – the New Times wrote a great preview piece for the show, read it here and come out!
Then Saturday night at Sweat, bust out the earplugs (or pick up a nice pair at the shop) for a four-band in-store! GREEN SKY headline the night with opening sets by Shroud Eater, Furious Dudes and Lil Daggers. No cover, starts at 8pm. See you this weekend!
We’ve got lots of great stuff coming up for Fridays at The Vagabond…We already enjoyed really (really!) great sets from Life Of Seals and Sweet Bronco, this week we’ve got guest DJ MGA back in the house to rock the decks in the main room!
Coming up…next week is tuneful Miami trio Ex-Norwegian, followed by Astari Nite celebrating the release of their new EP (and their song’s inclusion in RockBand 2), and then dreamy “chillwave” act Million Young on Friday, February 5th.
All that and three areas of great music, our guy Mo serving up impressive edibles in the Garden, and in case you hadn’t heard our current Fridays drink specials are $2 PBRs or $5 Russian Standard vodka cocktails from 10pm to midnight! That also happens to be the Sweat set time (with either myself or Just Dandy) so arrive early to beat the line, hear some fresh new music and imbibe on the cheap.
Remember: Fridays loves you. No dress code, no bs, just come as you are.
Join us at The Vagabond Friday night for a live performance by Ft. Lauderdale band SWEET BRONCO. You’ll love their electro-organic soul-pop rock syle reminiscent of Band of Horses and Wilco. DJs Mike Deuce, Ray Milian, Lolo, Danny Ashe, UVS + Alex Caso give you 3 rooms of sound to keep the part rockin til 5 in the morning.
On a sadder note, we’re losing a good friend this night. Danny Ashe has been a staple in the South Florida scene; repping good music with Lunabelle, Marqui Adora, Off the Radar, The Vagabond, etc. etc. Every Friday at The Vagabond in the bar room from 12 to 3, you’ve danced to his tunes, or turned to your friend with an, “I love this song!” This is his last night with us, as he travels to Spain to pursue his culinary dreams. We’re all going to miss the guy, so come out and have a goodbye shot with him this Friday!
Arrive before 11 for free entry and $2 PBR or $5 Russian Standard Vodka drinks until Midnight! Come as you are.
There will be no (((SHAKE))) this Thursday, but Sweat will definitely be in the house for Fridays @ The Vagabond January 1st! We get the new year started right with a live performance by one of South Florida’s best bands – LIFE OF SEALS! Their spacey-yet-poppy tunes will resonate with any fan of M83, My Bloody Valentine, Depeche Mode or Postal Service. We’ll have all 3 rooms of music going, and the party don’t stop til 5am. Get there before 11 for NO COVER, and $2 PBR or Rolling Rock drafts until Midnight!
By now you’ve all heard about the fact that we’ve got West Palm Beach’s SURFER BLOOD at Fridays at The Vagabond tomorrow, that they’ve been featured in the New York Times, by Rolling Stone, a recent lead story for the Broward New Times, and that scrooge-y old Pitchfork made their single “Swim” number 37 on their list of the top tracks of the year.
What you haven’t heard, is that Sweat and The Vagabond have teamed up with IronForge Press to make a sick silk-screened limited edition poster for the show!
This week, Fridays at The Vagabond are proud to present a special live set by LA producers/remixers extraordinaire CLASSIXX!
Mike Deuce has been dropping their track “I’ll Get You (feat. Jeppe)” on dancefloor and now you get to hear these heavy hitters for yourself on The Vagabond’s ridiculous Funktion One sound system.
Download their remix of Mayer Hawthorne’s “Green Eyed Love” for free here, their remix of Holy Ghost’s timeless dance track “I Will Come Back” here, and check out this cute fan video of their remix of Phoenix’s “Lisztomania”:
FRIDAYS AT THE VAGABOND is proud to present a very special evening in celebration of the birthdays of two of our own – JSIN (Sweat Records) and resident DJ extraordinaire MIKE DEUCE!!
At midnight in the Main Room, Miami’s own PANIC BOMBER will take the stage with a full-on audio-visual set of his high-energy dancefloor madness that combines electronic programming with live horns, vocals and interactive special effects.
Panic Bomber was voted “Best Electronic Artist” in Miami this year and if you haven’t seen him live yet you are really missing out! You can download his whole debut EP for free at www.panicbomber.com but live is a whole other experience… He’s also told us he’s got some secret surprises in store for this Friday so this will definitely be a show not to miss!
And of course Deuce and the other Fridays residents – RAY MILIAN, YOURS TRULY, DANNY ASHE, CARMEL OPHIR, ALEX CASO + UVS – will keep all three rooms going until 5am with the best music of all time!
Free admission before 11 and $1 PBR and Rolling Rock until midnight. No dress code – come as you are!
P.S. You can also enter to win places on the guest list by listening to Panic Bomber live on WVUM 90.5 fm this Thursday night at 7pm!
