Before the TV series, a campier Buffy film laid the groundwork!
DJ Hottpants is sharing the most important and influential movies in his life. They may not be highly rated on Rotten Tomatoes, but they are AMAZING!!! DJ Hottpants was obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie): owning the posters, soundtrack, paperback novelization, AND the audio tape of the novelization! Much campier than the show, Marvel Comics’ movie-master Joss Whedon’s first movie script is hilarious. A post-Flowers in the Attic Kristy Swanson was nominated for Best Actress at the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards for her kick-ass valley girl performance. The cast is surprisingly impressive, with Golden Globe winners Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games) and Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner), Emmy winner Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman) in one of his first post-Indecent-Exposure-scandal roles, height-of-90210-popularity Luke Perry, and before-they-were-stars David Arquette (Scream) and 2-time Academy Award winner Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby)! Reel Hottpants invites you to say all your favorite lines: “I don’t know about history? He wears a brown tie!”, join in some audience participation, and do your best Funky Chicken cheerleader routine.
Cheerleader and ’90s costumes are encouraged.
