131 Projects presents: “From Eden to Sahara”. This group exhibition takes its name from a book authored in 1920’s Florida by John Kunkel Small. It was mostly written during his many botanical research expeditions that Charles Deering and David Fairchild assisted with. During these adventures, Small, explored and photographed thousands of miles of Florida’s natural habitat. The book documents the early and severe degradation of Florida’s natural environment, plant life and Native American village sites.
The works chosen for this exhibition, created by a local yet eclectic group of artists, reflect and modernize the themes explored in John Kunkel Small’s book. These pieces, in their own way, use nature as subject matter, material or process. Whether it s gravity or depictions of mangroves each piece in this show has being selected for it’s use of natural elements.Opening reception: June 3rd, from 6pm to 11pm

Swedish rock band Refused wasn’t just ruminating about the lasting impact of popular culture when it began its 1998 album The Shape Of Punk To Come with a lyric about classics never going out of style — it was also taking stock of its own turbulent existence, which met an ignominious end. Indeed, Refused came and went before the true power of its music could be understood, even by its own members. Thankfully they have reunited and will be hitting the road to promote their newest release. The tour comes to Revolution Live on June 8th. Tickets are available online.

Sweat Records + O Cinema’s Music Movie Series is continues with a one-night-only official screening of Iggy Pop: Live In Basel 2015
There’s a reason why many consider Iggy Pop the godfather of punk — every punk band of the past and present has borrowed a thing or two from Pop and his late-’60s/early-’70s band The Stooges, who reunited in 2003 and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. Iggy Pop, an outstanding artist known for his outrageous and unpredictable stage antics, sings at the Baloise Session in Basel, Switzerland, where he was honored with a 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award. This fantastic performance features all of Pop’s biggest hits, including “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” “The Passenger,” “Lust for Life” and more.

SET & SETTING
“If you’re going to listen to heavy post-rock like this, it’s best to do so on an overcast, gloomy day to get the full impact. While a good chunk of the Temporary Residence Limited roster mines these same peaks and valleys, Set and Setting’s debut LP, Equanimity, proves there’s still gold to be found out in those hills.” – DecibelMagazine.com
“We are vignettes of psyche and chemical life spun by the darkness of another Mind; a subliminal infestation occupying sonic space. The vast horror of this field is a thirst never quenched; infinite Sisyphus idols moving planets on top of a grain of sand black. Nothing is not enough nothing.
Those unfamiliar portals…the cruel chambers they must guard…
A tendril of wild energy thrown from an endless loop; one coronal mass ejection spewing banal and awesome spheres.
Knowing is lying. Be our truth.”
“Reapermanser is all about their fast, loud, obnoxious, relentless onslaught of heavy riffs, and explosive drumming. This vile concoction of sound mayhem is topped off with demonic screams of blasphemous satire of religion, sex, life and death.”
“Discordant, dirty, twisted, demonic, but spacious and intricate – their latest material on Strange Transmissions from the Neuralnomicon will kick your 26-dimensional ass all up and down the omniverse.” – Decibelmagazine.com

Multi-talented singer, guitarist and songwriter, James Bay comes to the intimate Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater Wednesday, September 21st, 2016 / 8PM. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 22nd at 10 AM.
James Bay is a singular modern talent; an old head on young shoulders, a damn good guitar player and an even better songwriter. A true soul singer, chasing “that goose bumps moment” by channeling artists such as Miles Davis, Bruce Springsteen and James Blake, his music is intensely personal. “I’m trying to keep things human and emotional,” he explains. “It’s hard to know what the balance is, but you know it when you hear it. It’s such a personal process that it’s hard to share stuff sometimes.” But share he does, casting a light onto his attempts to make sense of the world, and a young man’s discovery of love and loss. He is the very best kind of British vocalist, singer and songwriter grounded by melodic truth and raw emotion. “I’m trying to make songs that make people feel something and, if I’m lucky, even move them,” he explains.
The legendary guitar driven jamband, Gov’t Mule comes to the intimate Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater Sunday, September 25th, 2016 / 8PM. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 22nd at Noon.
Rock torchbearers Gov’t Mule are celebrating their 20th anniversary with an extensive tour and a series of dynamic live archival releases that highlight the group’s versatility and epic, fearless live performances. The deep chemistry and steely confidence shared by the quartet allow them to tackle any form of music and stamp it their own while remaining true to the spirit and intent of the original. This can of course be heard any time guitarist-singer Warren Haynes, drummer Matt Abts, bassist Jorgen Carlsson and multi-instrumentalist Danny Louis take the stage. No two Gov’t Mule shows are alike, as the band draws on the more than 300 songs in their repertoire to create a unique experience each and every time. Their steadily expanding fan base knows that the Mulealways has something special waiting for them. Expect the unexpected.

Even as they’ve been embraced by the mainstream, Tegan and Sara consciously operate to the left of popular culture – their lyrical and social wisdom comes from an outside vantage looking in. Paradoxically, the essential message that underpins their worldview and identity is inclusion. Their latest effort, Love You To Death, featuring the first single “Boyfriend,” will be released this June. Pre sales for the show begin on April 29th, and can be purchased online.
