The Pretenders

Fillmore Miami Beach

Legendary rockers, The Pretenders come to the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater on Sunday, March 25th, 2018 / 8PM.  Tickets go on sale Friday, January 26th / 10AM.

The Pretenders are making a rare headlining appearance at the Fillmore Miami Beach.  While the group eventually became a vehicle for guitarist/vocalist Chrissie Hynde’s songwriting, it was a full-fledged band when it was formed in the late ’70s. With their initial records, the group crossed the bridge between punk/new wave and Top 40 pop more than any other band, recording a series of hard, spiky singles that were also melodic and immediately accessible. Hynde soared as an invigorating, sexy singer who bent the traditional male roles of rock & roll to her own liking.  Over the years and in many incarnations The Pretenders became a more straightforward rock band, yet Hynde’s semi-autobiographical songwriting and bracing determination meant that the group never became just another rock band.  From the seminal hits such as “Brass In Pocket,” Back On The Chain Gang,” “Middle Of The Road” and more to their latest album, Alone, The Pretenders will rock your world!

Reserved Seat tickets for The Pretenders, Sunday, March 25th, 2018 / 8PM are $42.50 in advance and $45.00 Day of Show.  A limited number of Mezzanine Special Reserved Seats are also available for $65.00.

Michael Franti & Spearhead at Tortuga Music Festival

Tortuga Music Festival

In creating their ninth studio album SOULROCKER, Michael Franti & Spearhead introduced a new sensibility to their potent hybrid of hip-hop, rock, folk, and reggae: a gracefully arranged take on electronic music that more than fulfills the band’s mission of making impassioned music you can dance to. Along with harnessing the Bay Area-based band’s dynamic energy for a more powerful impact than ever before, SOULROCKER again shows Franti’s singular ability to channel frustration into music that’s both thought-provoking and triumphantly hopeful.

Michael Franti & Spearhead will perform at Tortuga Music Festival which takes place from April 6-8 on the beaches of Ft. Lauderdale.

Full lineup and tickets for the festival can be found on their website:

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark

Revolution Live

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark head to Revolution Live on Saturday, April 14.

Featuring the core members Paul Humphreys and Andy McCluskey, the Liverpudlian synth pop group Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark released its first single, “Electricity,” on Factory Records; the record led to a contract with the Virgin subsidiary DinDisc. In 1980, the group released its self-titled debut album. It was followed by Organisation, which featured the U.K. Top Ten single “Enola Gay.” The band’s next few albums — Architecture & Morality, Dazzle Ships, and Junk Culture  — found the band experimenting with its sound, resulting in several U.K. hit singles. Crush, their most pop-oriented album, found more success in America than in Britain as the single “So in Love” hit number 26 on the charts. “If You Leave,” taken from the Pretty in Pink soundtrack, was their biggest American hit, climbing to number four. After a hiatus a full-blown reunion came in 2006, including both McCluskey and Humphreys. They dabbled in a few more projects and as soon as they were off the road they began writing songs for another album. Taking its name, and some inspiration, from Italian divisionist/symbolist painterGiovanni Segantini’s work titled The Punishment of Luxury, the band’s 13th album was made by the duo of McCluskey and Humphreys and released by White Noise Records in September of 2017.

Sum 41: Does This Look Infected 15th Anniversary Tour

Revolution Live

Canadian rockers Sum 41 hit worldwide radar in 1996 with the foursome’s mixture of punk-pop riffing, hip-hop poses, and toilet-bowl humor. Wooed by the boys’ goofy antics and incendiary live show, Island put Sum 41 on the payroll in 1999. The Half Hour of Power EP followed, and Warped Tour dates got the word out. They returned in 2000 with the fun-filled full-length All Killer No Filler, and the singles “In Too Deep” and “Fat Lip” became staples of both modern rock radio and Total Request Live. All Killer No Filler was certified Platinum in the United States, in Canada and in the United Kingdom. In 2002, the band released Does This Look Infected?, which was also a commercial and critical success. The singles “The Hell Song” and “Still Waiting” both charted highly on the modern rock charts. The band released its next album, Chuck, in 2004, led by singles “We’re All to Blame” and “Pieces”. The album proved successful, peaking at No. 10 on the Billboard 200. The band often performs more than 300 times each year and holds long global tours, most of which last more than a year. The group has been nominated for seven Juno Awards and have won twice (Group of the Year in 2002 and Rock Album of the Year for Chuck in 2005). Sum 41 was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for the song “Blood in My Eyes”

Sum 41 will perform at Revolution Live on May 8.

The Wonder Years w/ Tiger’s Jaw, Tiny Moving Parts & Worriers

Revolution Live

Taking its name from the TV show The Wonder Years, the Philadelphia punk pop band got its start in 2005. The band began playing shows and released two split singles that year (with Bangarang! and Emergency and I). In late 2007, The Wonder Years self-released an album, the emphatically titled Get Stoked on It!, After a year spent recording its second album, the group released The Upsides. The record made a dent in the lower regions of the Billboard charts, and also gained The Wonder Years a deal with the larger indie Hopeless, which reissued the album in September with four bonus tracks.  The Wonder Years got to work on their next album with producer Steve Evetts. In 2011, they released their third album, Suburbia I’ve Given You All and Now I’m Nothing, followed by the arrival of a B-sides compilation, Sleeping on Trash, as well as their fourth full-length album, The Greatest Generation, The group’s fifth studio album, 2015’s No Closer to Heaven, is a concept piece about coming to terms with the death of a loved one. The Wonder Years’next release, 2017’s Burst & Decay EP, offered acoustic versions of songs from their three previous LPs.

The Wonder Years will be performing at Revolution Live on May 12, with support from Tiger’s Jaw, Tiny Moving Parts, and Worriers.

Royal Blood

Revolution Live

Brighton duo Royal Blood channeled the blues-rock dynamism of the likes of the White Stripes and the Black Keys, yet they amped up the ferocity and volume with scuzzy riffs and blustering energy. Comprising drummer Ben Thatcher and bassist/vocalist Mike Kerr, the two-piece formed at the beginning of 2013. Although constrained to just two instruments, they made their presence known with pounding drums and heavily distorted bass guitar that drove the melodic intensity of their songs, alongside Kerr’s emotive vocals. Their debut self-titled full-length was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales reaching number one in the U.K. and Ireland. Tours with Iggy Pop and Foo Fighters followed, and in early 2015 Royal Blood won Best British Group at the Brit Awards, receiving their trophy from an admirer, none other than Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. Royal Blood returned in June of 2017 with their sophomore LP, How Did We Get So Dark?

Royal Blood will head to Revolution Live on Monday, June 11.

An Acoustic Evening w/ Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness & Friends

Revolution Live

For most of the 2000s, pianist and singer/songwriter Andrew McMahon fronted the alt-rock group Something Corporate before segueing into a poppy solo project titled Jack’s Mannequin, which featured guest appearances by many of his talented musician friends. In 2013, he released his first collection of music under his own surname, the Pop Underground EP. Maintaining his usual warm, upbeat vibe, this was the first of McMahon’s records to rely predominantly on electronics and synthesizers. His full-length debut, released eponymously under the Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness moniker, arrived the following year. McMahon went out on tour with Weezer and Panic! At the Disco during the summer of 2016, and at the conclusion of the tour he released the single “Fire Escape.” It was the first taste of his second album, Zombies on Broadway, which arrived in February 2017.

Andrew McMahon will be performing at Revolution Live on June 15 with support from Allen Stone, Zac Clark, and Bob Oxblood.
