This year’s round of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s Knight Arts Challenge MIAMI officially starts accepting entries today!

The KAC is a 5-year initiative that started in 2008, which has been pumping four million dollars a year into the South Florida Arts scene and we’re sure you’ve already been able to see some of the benefits – we’re one of them!

Sweat Records was one of the 2009 grantees and we have used some of the funds to make store improvements, hire a new staff member and throw Sweatstock, a giant block party which was totally free (and which we’re about to repeat – April 16th, save the date), amongst other things we wouldn’t have been able to accomplish otherwise.

Now, don’t get scared when you hear the word “grant” – this is probably THE easiest grant EVER to apply for.  Everyone gets the same amount of characters to explain their idea.  If you have a great idea for the arts in South Florida there is literally no reason on earth why you shouldn’t apply. Click here to get started. This year’s deadline is Wednesday, March 2nd and we wish you all the best of luck!
