Modernage Perform Live Friday at The Vagabond

    posted by Lolo

You’ve probably drank with or danced around the boys from MODERNAGE at some of Miami’s underground haunts. In case you didn’t know, they’re actually really talented musicians. Find out for yourself when they take the stage at The Vagabond tomorrow. If you’re somehow not familiar, here’s a nice little video featuring some of their exploits…

MODERNAGE performs live in the Main Room at Midnight with DJs RAY MILIAN and MIKE DEUCE holding it down before and after. LOLO, RYDON, and UVS rock the Bar Room while guest DJ AGENT ROSE provides the sound in the Garden. Everyone gets in free before 11pm, and you can get $3 PBR Tallboys and $5 Russian Standard vodka drinks before Midnight. Come as you are.

LA Rock Duo NO AGE Live In Miami Tonight (+ After-Party Info!)

    posted by Lolo

Tonight at Grand Central (697 N Miami Ave) we’ve teamed up with New Art School to bring LA’s NO AGE (Sub Pop Records) back for a proper Miami show and tour stop!

These guys slayed Sweatstock and have since dropped Everything In Between, an excellent, progressive album that made a ton of critics’ year-end lists and has been on permanent rotation at the shop.  Opening up is LA noise artist RENE HELL and Miami’s always-awesome BEINGS

THIS IS AN EARLY SHOW (doors open at 7, Beings hit the stage at 8 sharp) so no Miami time tonight.  The show is just 15 bucks at the door for three great acts so we hope to see you out.

After the show head seven blocks up the street to BAR (28 NE 14th St) as it’s the venue’s 1-year anniversary and Dean and Randy from No Age will be spinning some tunes along with local legend Alex Caso!  No cover and goes late…  See you tonight!

    MISS Frickin’ KITTIN Tonight!

    posted by Lolo

Back in high school I was the Miami street rep for pioneering electro/eclectic record label Emperor Norton (RIP).  One day in the mail I got a promo for an album called Miss Kittin and The Hacker. It stood out with minimal yet incredibly catchy retro-influenced beats, aloof yet alluring vocals, and the standout tracks “Frank Sinatra” and “1982″ that remain dancefloor classics to this day.

Since then Miss Kittin (nee Caroline Hervé) has released a handful of great albums and 12″s and established herself as a techno/electro mainstay.  The Vagabond and Sweat Records are extremely excited to have her spinning live tonight for her first Miami show in years. She’ll be DJing on the club’s mega Funktion One sound system in the main room around 12.30 so get ready to shake your body like the dance.

Pre-sale tickets are available here until 7pm and we recommend arriving early to avoid the line.  $3 PBR tallboys and $5 Russian Standard vodka ’til midnight too.  See you tonight.
