    New Year, New(ish) Sweat

    posted by Lolo

First off thanks everyone for such a great 2010!  FYI the last of our holiday hours are as follows:

Friday, December 31st: Noon to 5pm
    Saturday, January 1st: 4pm to 10pm
Sunday, January 2nd: Noon to 5pm

We have SO MUCH already planned for 2011.  We’ll be (sooner than later) launching our local-centric webstore, we have a ton of great shows coming up (Miss Kittin, No Age, Bruise Cruise Kick-Off Party), we’re working on some sure-to-be-incredible collaborations with some major Miami arts organizations, lots of (((SHAKE)))s, lots of Fridays at The Vagabond, and we’re going to be generally re-vamping and expanding our store’s entire selection of vinyl and merchandise.  Expect good things.

Loads more great in-stores are in the works too… Bands galore, January’s Casa de Ha-Ha is on the 11th and on the 13th we’re insanely excited because American Hardcore author STEVEN BLUSH will be speaking and doing a slide show presentation live at Sweat!

Peeking ahead a bit, March will be interesting with WMC right up front, SXSW in the middle, and Ultra weekend at the end.  We already know that plenty of great performances will be announced for the month so definitely stay tuned to our blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. to stay in the know and win tickets.

Last but not certainly not least, save the date as Saturday, April 16th will be SWEATSTOCK 2011/Sweat’s 6-Year Anniversary/Record Store Day.

Have a safe and happy new year everyone!

    NYE at The Vagabond Tonight!

    posted by Lolo

Dear friends, come say goodbye to 2010 and ring in 2011 with us tonight at The Vagabond! We’ll be giving away complimentary champagne so we can all toast together at midnight, followed by the über-talented duo of Steph and Nabedi aka THE STATE OF performing their always-entertaining brand of dark-yet-catchy indie pop/rock live in the main room.

The rest of the night’s musical curation will be provided by dancefloor killer MIKE DEUCE, COSMO spinning classics on wax, the lovely ladies of ESS & EMM, Vagabond man-of-the-house CARMEL OPHIR, Nightdrive‘s PATRICK WALSH + CARLOS LLANOS, and yours truly warming up the evening starting at 10pm.

There are still a limited number of pre-sale tickets available for just TEN BUCKS – a teeny fraction of the exorbitant covers some other places are charging for NYE, plus the usual good vibes and no hassle people have come to expect at The Vagabond.  Full info below, we hope to see you tonight!

A (((SHAKE))) Festivus for the Rest of Us

    posted by Jsin

It’s that time of year again where we gather around the Festivus pole for feats of strength and the airing of grievances. Your family doesn’t do that, you say? Well George Costanza’s family does, and that’s what matters on Thursday, Dec. 23rd when (((SHAKE))) celebrates Festivus! If you were never a Seinfeld fan, peep this video to get caught up on this magical holiday…

Everyone gets in The Vagabond FREE this week with RSVP to shake305@gmail.com. As always, our $1 Colt 45′s get you loose before 11pm, and the $5 Cuba Libre’s take care of the rest of the night. With classic (((SHAKE))) sounds by DJs A-TRAIN + ROB RIGGS in the Bar, and DJ SENSITIVE SIDE out on the Patio it’s sure to be a Happy Festivus for all! The Vagabond is located at 30 NE 14th Street in beautiful downtown Miami.
