This Week’s In-Stores: Andean Forest Song-Drone + Hialeah Punk Pop

Two very special live in-stores at Sweat Records this week, and a BONUS Sunday event that will have your mouth watering.  Read on…

Thursday night, we welcome LULACRUZA all the way from Buenos Aires!

LULACRUZA is an electronic folk duo at the junction of the hypermodern and the ancient. Their music weaves together hypnotic female singing, South American instruments, found sound objects, field recordings, and electronic manipulation. The result is a cross-genre, world-esque music unfolding with mesmerizing vocals, aquatic textures and up-tempo, handcrafted South American rhythms.

Lulacruza are Alejandra Ortiz (Colombia) and Luis Maurette (Argentina). Alejandra is an extraordinary songbird and plays the Colombian cuatro, shruti box, tar and kalimba. Luis Maurette complements with electronic processing and sequencing, as well as percussion, charango, and amazonian flutes.

They’ll be performing live with local favorites (recently awarded Best Band Metamorphosis by the New Times) ANIMAL TROPICAL, who always put on a fantastic show.  The event is FREE and starts at 8pm.

Saturday night we are more than happy to host the first show over a year by Miami pop punk stalwarts THE GETBACK!  See a live video and read an interview with lead singer Jose Flores here.  They’ll be playing with BEINGS, who are always loud and awesome.  The after-party is at Get Some at the Electric Pickle.

Then on Sunday we’re opening at 11am to bring you VEGAN BRUNCH AT SWEAT! Full info posting soon…
