    Plant Magic…

    posted by Lolo

Big thanks to the mystery gardener who put a new plant in our box last night!  It looks like some sort of slightly spiky bromeliad, which is hopefully less steal-worthy than what we had there before.  Cross your fingers that it sticks around a while!

(Me plant. Me happy at Sweat. Please leave me here!)

    Rec Room Revision

    posted by Lolo

Hey Sweaters, just a quick heads up.  We’re working on some new in-stores and scheduling, so we’re putting Rec Room on hold for a second until we sort everything out.  The Emerge Miami meetings will still be every Tuesday at 7 at Sweat, but we’re going to try something else with the knitting/board games/etc.

    Stay tuned!

    Vegan Brunch: Success!

    posted by Lolo

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the first Earthcakes-catered VEGAN BRUNCH at Sweat!  The food was delicious, everyone who came through was super nice, and it was an all-around lovely Sunday morning listening to Devo and The Pixies while chowing down on tofu scramble and waffles piled high with fresh fruit and vegan whipped cream!

It went so well that we’re going to be open on Sundays and doing brunch every week after that! We’re going to skip next week because it’s the 4th of July but mark your calendars for the next one on Sunday, July 11th.

Work up your appetites and see you then…

P.S. Hands Across The Sand was really cool!  Check out this pic of the line that went for blocks up and down South Beach:

P.P.S. No thanks to the losers at life who stole our plants over the weekend.  Next time we’re planting cactus…

    THE STATE OF at Fridays

    posted by Lolo

THE STATE OF are Steph Taylor and Nabedi Osorio.  Steph sings and plays keys, Nabedi plays drums and does backup vocals.  These ladies rock out live and that’s why we keep bringing them back to Fridays at The Vagabond! Catch them before they take off northwise for shows in Ontario, New York, Chicago and more.

They’ll hit the main stage at midnight, followed by Mike Deuce + Ray Milian burning up the dancefloor and the usual Friday night merriment all around.  No cover before 11, and next week…THE BLACK KIDS!  A very limited amount of pre-sale tickets are available here so get them while you can.

P.S. Don’t forget Hands Across The Sand on Saturday and Sweat’s first vegan brunch on Sunday!

Shake Unveils New Quart Chug Champ Shirt

    posted by Jsin

Since we started (((SHAKE))) back in ’08, we’ve been holding a little contest on The Vagabond’s patio that’s tested the true fortitude of the human spirit. That’s right, I’m talking about the Colt 45 Quart Chug Championship. 32 Oz of malt liquor in one go is no easy task, but those brave enough have won awesome prizes ranging from free tattoos to AHOLSNIFFSGLUE artwork. This Thursday we unveil our new shirt designed by Jose Blue Jeans that will give the winner a great sense of pride and officialness when they wear it to work or their next church function. Below is the design, but you’ll have to be there tonight to see the actual awesomeness of the shirt.

Tonight we also celebrate the Birthday of a great friend and (((SHAKE))) supporter Miss Goobs. When you get a chance, check out her awesome site Antisteez.com dropping knowledge on an array of topics. We’ll also be welcoming back DZA who will be doing a guest spot in the Bar Room before A-Train, and saying goodbye to our awesome back Patio DJ The Whisper as he goes off on summer adventures.

It’s going to be an excellent night, and you can take part for free by sending an RSVP to shake305@gmail.com and arriving before Midnight! Colt 45 Tallboys are $1 til Midnight, while Cuba Libre drinks are only $5 all night, so get loose and do your job!
