MACHINEDRUM performs live at (((SHAKE))) for GET LOW this Thursday night at The Vagabond!
After helping launch Miami’s awesome (but now defunct) Merck Records, Travis Stewart aka Machinedrum made his way to New York. He’s been blowing up over there with his label Normrex. Check out this video from the album “Want to 1 2?” he put out last year.
Also performing at (((SHAKE))) GET LOW are Schematic Records founder Romulo Del Castillo, Afro Monk, Gooddroid, Bunnyfuzz, and of course Juan BassHead. MCs Jumanji + The Nome hype the action, while VJ Munkz provides the visual stimulation. RSVP to shake305@gmail.com for reduced cover before 11. Do your job.

This week we are giving you not one but TWO chances to win tickets to Monday night’s Swell Season show at the Fillmore!
If you haven’t heard the Swell Season, they are Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. In the Academy Award-winning film ONCE they play “Guy” and “Girl” – two musicians who meet in Dublin and bond as they create beautiful music together. It’s a wonderful film, highly recommended!

Anyway, you can win tickets to see them live by commenting below – we’ll choose a winner at random Friday at noon – or you can come to Can You Rock A Little Softer? Thursday night at Sweat and we’ll be doing a live drawing for a second pair.
Thanks much to NBCMiami and LiveNation, and of course you can always buy tickets right here. Good luck!

Jump for joy everyone, Miami’s much-missed acoustic showcase Can You Rock A Little Softer? returns in a new venue – HERE! Once a month on a Thursday evening at Sweat Raffa & Rainer will present music stylings by some of the very best in South Florida.

This month’s CYRALS is tomorrow evening from 8-11pm and please come early! You’ll be treated to performances by…
The mere $5 cover goes right to the artists, sound and expenses. AND, Raffa will be selling her famous vegan chili so come hungry!
Later on down the street at BAR (28 NE 14th St)., Roofless Records presents STRANGE DAYS. From the horses’ mouth:
Roofless Records presents STRANGE DAYS, a new monthly showcase drawing from experimental music/performance, international folk and improvisation. The inaugural edition will feature: RAT BASTARD (home from touring the USA with the International Noise Conference, ready to squelch), PRAVDA V GLAZA (traditional Russian gypsy music and dancing), SELF & OTHER (post-rock, now a three piece), DRACULA (acoustic/twee originals and r&b covers), and the debut of THE PRESIDENT (formerly the Ghost of Dirty).
All that plus (((SHAKE)))’s GET LOW party with Machinedrum is going on tomorrow night. Take a nice, long disco nap and see you out!

Too awesome not to share. Check out this video of Miami artist/curator extraordinaire Francesco LoCastro as he paints a sky-high epic portrait of 305 bass gangster Otto Von Schirach in Wynwood:
Our friends over at WALLOVE.com have a new shirt out for a good cause and we had to pass it along. If you love animals, check it out:
“Limited Edition “Save Sonny” T-shirt. 100% Cotton. FREE SHIPPING! Shirt will be delivered within 12 business days.
This design is inspired by Sonny the Bullmastiff that was rescued from the streets. He is only three years old, and comes from a neglectful past, however he’s become a valued employee of the Wallove team. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with grade 2 cancer and all proceeds from the sales of this shirt go towards his recovery. Please help Sonny get better!”

This Friday at The Vagabond we’re celebrating MiamiMayhem.com founder Daniel de las Casas’ birthday with live performance by two local favorites. Modernage have been in the studio recently and they’ll be playing brand new songs! Joining them will be People From Venus and of course the Friday night resident DJs holding it down.
No cover before 11 so come out for the mayhem tomorrow night!

Congrats to lucky commenters #8 (juan) and #17 (Brian Butler) who each won a pair to the Synthesis Festival!
To everyone else: if you pre-buy your tickets online it’s only $15 instead of 20! Still a totally fair deal for all the entertainment on tap Saturday night… See you there!
