In addition to all the regular reasons to come to Fridays at The Vagabond (great music, cheap drinks, nice people), this week we are excited to bring you two extra-awesome bonus incentives!
Orlando’s POP GLOW arose from the ashes of Joy Division tribute band par excellence 3 One G, who summoned Ian Curtis & co at The Vagabond many moons ago. Pop Glow has a decidedly brighter future, making super-catchy, bouncy, vocoded electropop. Pop Glow play live in the main room at midnight! (It’s also worth noting that later this month they’re playing the Total Bummer festival in Gainesville, which looks like anything but!)
Following Pop Glow, DJ extraordinaire LAURA (OF MIAMI) from WVUM will rock the decks in the main room! She’s got impeccable taste and is absolutely one of the best selectors in the city. Tonight at the shop we welcome a live performance by Miami indie/electro/rockers PEOPLE FROM VENUS!
They just released a new album (“Toot Toot Yeah”, available at Sweat) and have been racking up all sorts of press, playing all over town, and giving out free remixes, so come to Sweat tonight for an intimate in-store appearance! No cover, and it starts at 8.30pm.
The party continues afterward at The Vagabond… Forget spring break, this is Spring (((SHAKE)))! Quart-chugging, Nintendo, backyard BBQ – it’s all there, with DJs DOORMOUSE, ALEX CASO, A-TRAIN + THE WHISPER keeping the party poppin’ all night.

Tonight at The Vagabond we celebrate our good friend RAY MILIAN‘s Birthday! Ray has been a staple of Miami’s indie nightlife since the jump, as one of the founding members of Poplife. After originating as a party, he created the amazing Off The Radar blog, one of the best places to find new music online. He’s been our always awesome Fridays Main Room Resident DJ since we started two years ago, while holding down residencies at (786) and Chocolate Sundays at Purdy Lounge, Back Door Bamby, and dropping by (((SHAKE))) for his monthly Freestyle sets. Let’s pay tribute to this man who’s made you dance for so many years!
Our special guests from the UK, THE WAVE PICTURES, are stopping by on their North American tour before heading over to SXSW where they are named one of Spin’s Must-Hear Bands. See them live tonight before they blow up out there!
