After literally years of waiting, we can all now swoon and rejoice because Miami songsters RAFFA AND RAINER have a brand new album out right now!
Sweat has sold hundreds of copies of “Stolen Coal”- their lovely, hand-stitched debut – and this week their sophomore effort “No Mercy” is available in green-tastic eco-friendly packaging. Click the cover for a little taste of their tunes:
Not only that, but they’re having a huge party to celebrate on Friday evening at the Wynwood Social Club. Raffa is making her famous and amazing vegan chili, there will be live performances by Jesse Jackson and Danielle Steele, and R&R will be performing live with their full band, which is always excellent.
Buy the CD at Sweat and get in free, or buy it at the door and the same deal applies. Starts at 8pm at 2501 NW 2nd Ave.
As part of our ongoing film series co-presented by the Ai Miami International University of Art & Design, we present a very special rare screening of Allen Baron’s New York City noir, BLAST OF SILENCE! This low-budget, carefully crafted portrait of a hit man on assignment in Manhattan during Christmastime follows its stripped-down narrative with mechanical precision, yet also with an eye and ear for the oddball details of urban living and imposing beauty of the city.
Read more about it here at the New Times and come out tonight at 8pm – free as always!

Since 1999 the UK-based ATP Festival has had amazing curators like Tortoise, The Mars Volta, Portishead, Mogwai, Sonic Youth, Matt Groening, Autechre and many more, assembling bands and fans together at the British seaside for weekends of musical enjoyment in a sponsor-free, intimate environment.

Prepare thyselves! Panic Bomber‘s new album is coming out and there’s going to be an insane show this Saturday night to celebrate the release. He’s performing live with all the bells and whistles at the White Room – horn section, special effects, perhaps a few new covers planned… – along with DJ sets by Damaged Goods, Troy Kurtz and Juan Basshead. All denizens of the dancefloor will be thoroughly satisfied.
Panic Bomber’s new full-length “Getting On My Mind” drops next Tuesday but Sweat’s got the CD available right here right now for you to obtain! It’s $7, less than the cost of a drink at most clubs, but you’ll get 12 tracks (eight originals and four different remixes) that you can listen to on repeat to your heart’s content. In other words, it’s a great deal for a really damn good CD.
(PB’s female alter-ego, she’s fierce.)
Also, leave a comment below for your chance win one of two Panic Bomber Prize Packs! Each pack includes a free copy of the new album, admission for two to the event on Saturday, and holographic PB stickers! All other commenters will be added to Sweat’s $5 reduced list so make sure to leave your full names.
This giveaway is for one of the “12 Days of Panic Bomber” that Mr. Bomber is going through on his site so make sure to check in to win stuff, download free remixes and more.
RSVP on Facebook if you like, flier after the jump! See you Saturday.

This week, Fridays at The Vagabond are proud to present a special live set by LA producers/remixers extraordinaire CLASSIXX!
Mike Deuce has been dropping their track “I’ll Get You (feat. Jeppe)” on dancefloor and now you get to hear these heavy hitters for yourself on The Vagabond’s ridiculous Funktion One sound system.
Download their remix of Mayer Hawthorne’s “Green Eyed Love” for free here, their remix of Holy Ghost’s timeless dance track “I Will Come Back” here, and check out this cute fan video of their remix of Phoenix’s “Lisztomania”:
Superthug started back in ’98 with the sound of helicopters, a cell phone ringing, talk of Noreaga in the Philippines… next thing you knew the whole club was jumping off to their first taste of a Neptunes beat and the repeated chant of “what.” N.O.R.E hasn’t stopped running since then and he makes his way to the (((SHAKE))) stage this Thursday, December 10th!
N.O.R.E. comes to The Vagabond live-and-direct to celebrate the launch of Militainment Crazy Hood Radio. He’s joined by a stellar local line-up of MAYDAY, GARCIA, HECKLER, and BLACK BOBBY who we told you about right here. Additional sounds by DJ EFN, SHARPSOUND, DEE JAY K-N-S, D-UP, DOORMOUSE, A-TRAIN + ALEX CASO on the wheels of steel. This is sure to be another epic (((SHAKE)))
