20BOOSH-A-Thon #2 Next Monday!
posted by LoloIf you still haven’t heard of The Mighty Boosh yet, we can see why… It was originally on BBC Three (which most of us don’t get over here), and is broadcast late at night in the US on Adult Swim. So, that’s why we’re bringing you huge doses of BOOSH at Sweat Records!
We’ll be playing Season 2 (from 2005) starting at 8pm. Meet freaks like Kodiak Jack, demonic grandma Nanatoo, The Hitcher, coconut companion Milky Joe and everyone’s favorite – transsexual merman and Bailey’s aficionado Old Gregg.
If this all sounds bizarre, it is. But it’s also brilliant, filled with hilarious gags, cheeky pop culture references and lots of music. The screening is free of course so we hope you’ll join us!

18Miami Becomes a Purple City!
posted by JsinThat’s what electro pop darling Little Boots sounds like drenched in purple. The producer who remixed this song goes by the name of Joker. His soulful, synthy, Sega style comes from a purple picture he sees in his head before creating the music. At only 20 he’s already made a huge impact in the underground music scene, being named “2008 Producer of the Year” by none other than Pitchfork.
Tomorrow night the Bristol native comes to Miami for the first time to play Shake! Whether you’ve been to them all or you somehow haven’t attended yet, this is the Get Low you’ve been waiting for. It’s already been hyped on the Miami New Times Crossfade blog and the Miami Dubsteppers are ready to go with new shirts for sale!

18Dan on Doug Action
posted by DanielDoug Stanhope, this Friday at the Culture Room, Ft. Lauderdale. Stanhope is known for working outside the comedy club circuit in favor of performing at any “boozer joint” with a stage and microphone. Perfect fit for a man with comedy that won’t conform. Be prepared for some culture-shaking prophetic rants, laced with the finest hooker/poop/drug jokes on the market. Comic-comparisons can be trite, but I’d say if Bill Hicks and George Carlin starred in 2 Girls 1 Cup, Doug Stanhope is the cup. Drink deeply. Now go to Ticketmaster.
And speaking of unholy crap, I get to open for him! This is not only an honor, but also a chance to make some real connections, maybe a new dealer. Not really, mine is great. I saw Stanhope two years ago at Crowbar in Tampa, check out the fan pic!
