Before or after watching the TM Sisters Crash Whirl Go!, you must stop next door for the opening of Manny Prieres‘ solo exhibition What we do is SECRET at the Spinello Gallery. Manny has been a fixture of the Miami art scene for over 10 years and was a founder of it’s first influential alternative art space called the BOX. He will feature his intricately detailed graphite and watercolor pieces on paper and sculpture. Go here to hear about his inspiration and see the master at work in his studio, courtesy of the Wet Heat Project.
The opening is from 7-10 at the Spinello Gallery located at 155 NE 38 ST, Suite 101 in the Design District, and will be showing through September 26th. For more info email info@spinellogallery.com. Here’s an example of what to expect this evening…
Tonight at Locust Projects, Miami artist duo, Sweat muralists and Death Print stars the TM Sisters debut their most ambitious show to date – Whirl Crash Go! We hear rumors of a massive indoor swimming pool, roller skates, and “a kaleidoscope of light, sound and action.”
(They are actual sisters despite popular disbelief)
This show is in collaboration with Karelle Levy of Krelwear and Mr. Otto Von Schirach so expect amazing costumes and sick beats too!
Locust Projects is located at 155 NE 38th St. in the Design District. There is one performance at 8pm, another at 10 and seating is limited so don’t be all running on Miami time tonight. See you there!
Tonight at Fridays at The Vagabond, we welcome Miami electro-pop duo BFGF!
Chris Video (BF) + me she (GF) will get you fired up in the Main Room just in time for residents Mike Deuce and Ray Milian to keep you dancing all night long. Here’s a free MP3 of their track “The Sweet Heart” – recommended for fans of Miss Kittin, Ladytron, etc.
Show starts at midnight and there’s no cover before 11pm, and of course $1 beers until midnight.
Next week we’ve got musical guests The Beauvilles + King Bee, and coming up in 2 weeks, a South Florida exclusive performance by one of our favorite acts ever — GLASS CANDY!!
Thursday, August 27th a great battle of bass will be waged during (((SHAKE))) when Joe Nice declares Dub War on Get Low. Baltimore’s Joe Nice is known as the US Ambassador of dubstep to the rest of the world, playing legendary parties like DMZ in the UK. He is the founder of New York’s biggest dubstep party, Dub War, which has been going since 2005. You can also catch him on the radio every Tuesday night at Gourmet Beats, but you really have to see his high energy live show to feel his big-time stage presence!
Here’s what we mean by that…
Miami Dubstep will be represented by Juan Basshead, Otto von Schirach, Joel the Hutt and the BassmakersTrip1 and Secondhand Smoke. Our Masters of Ceremonies Jumanji and The Nome will be holding it down like champions. Heavy bass bombs will be hitting the dancefloor all night, so be safe and Get Low. The Vagabond doors at 10, and you can get in FREE til 11 with RSVP to SHAKE305@GMAIL.COM!
