Dubstep? Dubstep. Dubstep!

Dubstep is here.  It’s been brewing in places like Black Sheep Bar, PS14, Churchill’s and other experimental spots for awhile now. Maybe you heard Drop the Lime + Craze dropping dubstep during their (((SHAKE))) bass massacre back in January.   It came out to shine during WMC at parties like London Bass in Miami, Future Sound of Breaks, Bang! Bang! + the Iheartcomix/Mad Decent/Turntable Lab/Trouble & Bass O.H.W.O.W. warehouse bash.  Lately at Fridays @ The Vagabond, you might’ve heard me play Skream’s remix of “In for the Kill” by La Roux or Mike Deuce throw down Rusko’s monster remix of Kid Sister’s “Pro Nails”.  You can see the progression here, and this Thursday comes the next step in the movement.  What now, you ask?  Well, there’s nothing left to do but GET LOW!

In true Miami fashion, (((SHAKE))) has been keeping it bass-heavy since we started 8 months ago with jams like the legendary Bass Con Lechon. This Thursday we’re taking the the dirtiest, nastiest, heaviest, low-end sounds of Dubstep + Miami Bass to The Vagabond’s insane Main Room sound system for GET LOW.

We’ve brought DJ LORD down from Atlanta for the occasion. He’s been Public Enemy’s DJ for the past nine years, touring the world with them. Obviously a group of their legendary status would choose Lord, a killer turntablist who’s won countless DJ battles in his career. Besides Hip Hop, he’s also big in the Drum & Bass and Dubstep arenas with his Trill Bass crew.

He’s joined on the decks by Miami’s Dubstep Ambassador JUAN BASSHEAD. This renaissance man runs the Basshead Music label and also Black Sheep Bar, which has been the home of Dubstep in Miami, hosting legends such as Skream, Benga, Mala, Plastician, Hatcha, Joe Nice and many more.

As usual, Otto von Schirach has been in his laboratory mixing up some sonic poison for the masses. He’s going to play some of his new Dubstep tracks for you in his opening DJ set, and word on the streets is him and Jose el Rey(Miami Bass Warriors) have even worked out a theme song for the event!

If all this wasn’t enough, ASHWORTH closes out the night with some dancefloor destruction. All the while, Resident (((SHAKE))) DJs DOORMOUSE, INDUCE + DS will be in the bar hitting you with the best hip hop in town and an album release party for J Dilla’s “Jay $tay Paid.” Doors open at 10 and you can get $1 Colt 45’s til Midnight so you know this party’s gonna get loose, in fact, it’s gonna GET LOW!

  1. So I’m still not fully recovered from Thursday…. left my soul on the dancefloor. The place with packed with bass heads and lovers of dubstep… there was a sea of Miami Dubstep shirts in the crowd to prove it, and I was even given my very own- thanks Carlos! All the DJ’s were sick… DJ Lord came through with some of the sickest turntable skills I’ve ever seen! The night was so good, we’re gonna GET LOW AT (((SHAKE))) again July 2nd! Stay tuned…

    much love,
    J
