Sweat Records: Catching Up, New Music + New Events

Hey Friends,

It’s been a minute! Let us catch you up on what’s going down…

-Remember the PLUG Miami party? Well the nominees for this year’s Plug Awards in NYC are up and YOU get to vote! Yes, you! Let your voice be heard on a variety of topics from “Best New Artist” to “Best Record Label” and beyond. As we all recently learned, actually voting can make a difference!! Click here to do it.

-Who went to Bang?? Was Daft Punk amazing or what??! Also, as you saw this year it gets expensive as the show draws closer so next year buy your tickets EARLY and save yourself some money!!

-Hey fellow bookworms!! The Miami International Book Fair is this weekend so head downtown and find yourself some great reading material and/or meet some cool authors!! This is one of Miami’s best attractions so check it out if you haven’t yet. www.miamibookfair.com

SWEAT BOOKS BOOK CLUB: Our current selection is “Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, a Man Who Would Cure the World” by Pulitzer Prize-winner Tracy Kidder.*

From the back cover: “In medical school, Paul Farmer found his life’s calling: to cure infectious diseases and to bring the lifesaving tools of modern medicine to those who need them most. Tracy Kidder’s magnificent account shows how one person can make a difference in solving global health problems through a clear-eyed understanding of the interaction of politics, wealth, social systems, and disease. Profound and powerful, Mountains Beyond Mountains takes us from Harvard to Haiti, Peru, Cuba, and Russia as Farmer changes people’s minds through his dedication to the philosophy that ‘the only real nation is humanity.'”

(*I already finished this book and it was truly inspiring – highly recommended! -Lo)

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, November 29th at 8pm. Be there AND be square.
